The Final Stretch Has a Look
Somerset's final home week of 2026 brings Damian Priest, a WWE giveaway jersey that actually understands the assignment, and one last turn as the Jersey Diners.

September baseball has a different texture. The schedule is suddenly small enough to see the end of it, every remaining trip to the park feels a little more finite, and the promotional calendar starts reading less like a list of future possibilities than a last call. Somerset has six home games left in the 2026 regular season, all against Hartford, with the home schedule closing Sunday, Sept. 13.
The final week begins Tuesday with one of those minor-league combinations that makes complete sense only after somebody says it out loud: baseball, professional wrestling, a dog-friendly ballpark night and a giveaway jersey that looks far better than a giveaway jersey is required to look.
TUESDAY: THE SHIRT IS THE POINT
WWE star Damian Priest is scheduled to appear on Sept. 8, throw a ceremonial first pitch and meet a limited number of fans through a separate photo package. But the object most likely to keep circulating around the ballpark long after the night is over is the jersey handed to the first 1,000 adults.
It is white with baseball pinstripes, the Patriots wordmark across the chest and a gold WWE championship-belt graphic wrapped around the waist. Even by the generous standards of minor-league promotional apparel, it is a legitimately fun design. The kind of giveaway people may wear back through the gate instead of demoting to lawn-mowing duty. Bark in the Park adds a second giveaway: the first 500 dogs receive a leash, presented by Dogtopia.
SUNDAY: ONE LAST SHIFT AT THE DINER
The home finale on Sept. 13 is also a Jersey Diners game, which means the Patriots will close the regular-season home schedule wearing the alternate identity that has become one of the organization's best pieces of visual storytelling. The first 1,500 kids will receive a bright Jersey Diners lunch cooler bag, presented by the Somerset County Education Association.
That bag is almost a perfect little proof of the argument I made earlier this season in "Best Branding in the Biz," where I argued that the Diners identity works because it is more than a logo. The neon palette, the coffee-cup character, the supporting marks and the diner language form a system sturdy enough to move from a jersey to a scoreboard to a piece of merchandise without losing the local joke. A turquoise lunch cooler covered in diner imagery is exactly the sort of object that system was built to make.
The Diners brand has already been voted Minor League Baseball's best alternate identity and has won a Golden Bobblehead for its merchandise strategy. The clever part is that those honors do not feel like the end of the idea. The brand keeps finding new places to live.
That is not a bad way to close a home schedule: one night built around a shirt people will want to keep, and one final afternoon for an alternate identity people have already decided they want to carry home. The final stretch arrives next week. Somerset, fittingly, is making sure it has a look.
